Keith and Brenda Murphy, Receive Life-Changing Gift as Part of the Third Annual Baths for the Brave

Keith and Brenda Murphy, Receive Life-Changing Gift as Part of the Third Annual Baths for the Brave

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, more than 5.5 million U.S. veterans are living with a disability; many facing everyday challenges such as bathing. In honor of Veterans Day, Bath Expo, a leading bath, shower and walk-in-tub renovation company with locations in Dallas, Austin and San Antonio, is teaming up with nine home improvement companies from across the country for the third annual Baths for the Brave.

This one-day special event is planned for Friday, Nov. 8, and will provide 17 veterans from across the country, including Keith and Brenda Murphy from Coppell with a brand-new tub or shower system, free of charge, to help improve the lives of those who sacrificed so much for our country. To date, Baths for the Brave has helped 19 veterans eliminate the everyday fight to bathe, and this year that number continues to grow.

Keith and Brenda met while serving our country in Korea. Keith was in the U.S. Army for four years as a Sergeant and specialized in Infantry, Mortars. Brenda served in a different unit of the military, but their paths crossed and soon love was in the air. After returning to the U.S., Keith and Brenda got married and Keith started working as a truck driver.

In August 2018, while Keith was out on his motorcycle going through an intersection, he was hit by a car making an illegal left turn. The injuries he suffered were so significant, it forced his wife Brenda to make the decision to amputate his leg above the knee in order to save his life. “It was an incredibly difficult decision to make, but in the end, I chose to keep him alive, whatever the cost,” Brenda explained. “For him to receive this honor and for you guys to make our bath more accessible to him is something I cannot thank you for enough.”

Currently, Keith is training for the 2022 Paralympics for bobsledding. He refuses to let his injury define his life. “I may have lost my leg, but I refuse to lose my spirit, fight and will to live,” Keith said. “I try to make the best of it every day, but it’s the struggle with the simple, every day tasks like bathing that are very difficult for me.”

“We are proud to be a part of Baths for the Brave’s third year of helping veterans in need across our country,” Bath Expo marketing director, Amanda McDaniel, said. “Helping those who have done so much for this country already is the least we could do, and we’re honored to be able to make a small improvement in the lives of our nation’s heroes.”

Baths for the Brave was created by Tundraland Home Improvements, a Wisconsin-based home remodeling company, as a way to provide local veterans and families in need with remodeled bathrooms, all free of charge. Brian Gottlieb, creator of Baths for the Brave and owner of Tundraland, has a long-term goal to involve all 50 states. “Giving back is a fundamental way of life for us at Tundraland,” Brian Gottlieb said. “It’s more than what we do; it’s who we are. Our whole team is on board and passionate about serving others, so growing this program nationwide was something we were all very excited about. We’re thankful our partnering home improvement companies have similar values. To see this program extend into its third year is incredible.”

All participating home improvement companies, including Tundraland, will donate 100 percent of their time and materials to a veteran in need from their own local community. The remodels across the country will all take place simultaneously. Additional participating companies also include:

  • Alenco Home Improvement; Lenexa, Kan.
  • Baths for Less; Tempe, Arizona
  • Lifespan Home Improvements; Salt Lake City, Utah
  • MaxHome; New Orleans, La. & Houston, Texas
  • NEWPRO Home Improvement; Woburn, Mass.
  • Reborn Bath Solutions; Anaheim, California
  • Tundraland Home Improvements; Kaukauna, Wis.
  • West Shore; Mechanicsburg, Pa.

Are Walk-in Tubs Covered by Medicare?

Walk-in Tub If you’re age 65 or older, then you’ve been automatically enrolled in Medicare, which is a federal health insurance program provided for senior citizens. If you’re a qualified member who struggles with limited mobility, you might be wondering if a walk-in tub would be covered by Medicare, since it will help you age in place and make bathing safer for you. Unfortunately, walk-in tubs are generally not covered by Medicare because they are currently not considered durable, medical equipment. However, in some rare circumstances, Medicare may provide partial reimbursements. So, if you’ve invested in a walk-in tub, you’ll at least be able to try and recoup some of your money.

Steps to Follow to Seek Partial Reimbursement for Your Walk-in Tub

Although Medicare might reimburse you for your walk-in purchase, there’s still a good chance that they won’t. In this case, you must be prepared to absorb the full cost of the walk-in tub, including installation. If you do want to seek compensation for a walk-in tub, you’ll need to follow these steps:

  • The first and most important step is to get a doctor’s prescription for your walk-in tub. If you don’t get a written prescription from your doctor before you purchase the walk-in tub, you have almost no chance of a Medicare reimbursement.
  • Next, find a walk-in tub that has features that will accommodate your needs and budget, and look for a reputable company that you can trust to install it.
  • Finally, it’s time to send your prescription and paid invoice to Medicare and hope for the best. You might just get lucky, and they could possibly reimburse you for some of the cost.

What Are the Safety Benefits of a Walk-in Tub?

When you need to invest in a walk-in tub, it’s most likely because you struggle with limited mobility, which can make it difficult to bath safely. A walk-in tub can help to reduce the chances of suffering an injury while bathing because they come with a number of safety benefits, including:

  • A low-threshold entry – A low-threshold entry makes it easier for you to enter and exit your walk-in tub, reducing the chance that you’ll lose your balance and fall because you won’t have to step over a tub wall.
  • Safety bars – These will allow you to maneuver around the tub while having a steady thing to hold on to, making it easier for you to maintain your balance. These safety bars will also make it easier for you to lower yourself into and lift yourself out of the tub.
  • Seating options – Having raised seats in your walk-in tub will prevent you from having to lower yourself all the way to the bottom of the tub floor, making it much easier for you to get into and out of the tub.
  • Handheld shower wand – This will allow you to wash the upper portion of your body without moving around too much.
  • Slip-resistant floors – Because your feet will be able to grip the floors better, slip-resistant floors will help you to maintain your balance inside the walk-in tub and will drastically reduce your chances of slipping.

Spa-Like Features of Walk-in Tubs

In addition to their safety features, walk-in tubs can also be equipped with a number of luxurious features that will make your bathing experience much more enjoyable. Some of the features that can be added to most walk-in tubs include:

  • Heated soak – This upgrade consists of mini jets that are designed to continuously circulate warm water, so you can enjoy a nice long soak.
  • Hydrotherapy – Hydrotherapy jets will give your body a nice relaxing massage, and can help to ease tension, improve circulation, and soothe muscles and joints.
  • Chromatherapy – This consists of placing color-changing LED lights around the walk-in tub to help influence your mood, emotions, and feelings.

How Long Does It Take to Replace a Shower?

Shower Remodel When you’re looking to replace a shower in your home, the time that it will take for the job to be complete is likely a major concern. That’s because the bathroom that you’re replacing the shower in will be out of commission during the duration of the project, which depending on how many other bathrooms you have and how many people live in your home, could mean having to share a bathroom and shower with others for some time. So, how long does it take to replace a shower? Well, that answer depends on a number of different factors, such as what type of shower or bathtub you’re installing, and if you’re going to hire professionals or attempt to complete the job yourself. A good estimate for a shower replacement would be between three to five days. However, it can take much longer than that in certain circumstances, especially if you’re going to complete the work on your own.

Choose What You Want to Replace Your Current Shower With

With so many different bathing options out there, it can be hard to choose what type of bathtub or shower you want to replace your current system with. Some of the most common options are:

  • Standard bathtubs – These types of tubs will provide you with the basics so that you can enjoy a straightforward bath.
  • Standard shower – If all you care about is getting clean quickly and you don’t need any extra add-ons, then a standard shower might be right for you.
  • Tub/shower combos – If you like to enjoy a quick shower in the morning but would rather take a long, relaxing bath at night, then a tub/shower combo is the perfect option for you.
  • Shower enclosures – When beauty really matters to you, a shower enclosure is the way to go. These types of showers consist of an all-glass enclosure that will be the focal point of your bathroom.
  • Walk-in showers – This system is perfect for those with limited mobility or who have a difficult time stepping over a high wall to enter or exit a shower. A walk-in shower has a low-entry threshold that makes entering and exiting it safe.
  • Walk-in tubs – When you’re looking for a safer bathing option, a walk-in tub is the perfect option. They come with a number of safety features such as slip-resistant floors, low-threshold entrys, grab bars, seating options, and more to offer a safe bathing experience.
  • Spa/whirlpool tubs – This type of tub will bring the comfort of a spa into the privacy of your own bathroom. These large tubs will allow you to be completely submerged in warm water while enjoying high-volume, adjustable jets that will soothe aching muscles.

Will Your Hire a Professional or Do It Yourself?

After you’ve selected which type of bathing option you want to replace your current shower with, you’ll have to decide if you want to hire professionals to install it or if you want to install it yourself. You might be thinking that you’ll be able to save some money by performing the installation yourself, however, if you’re not a professional with a ton of experience and some knowledgeable friends, this could actually end up costing you even more money. That’s because, doing it yourself will not only take a lot more time, but also there is a better chance that mistakes will be made, which can become costly, quick. It’s always a good idea to hire professionals to install your new tub or shower because they have experience in handling this type of work and will be able to get it done much more efficiently than you could on your own. Plus, many contractors will offer guarantees, allowing you to have peace of mind that they won’t consider the job finished until you’re satisfied with the way your new tub or shower looks and operates.

How Much Does It Cost to Remodel an Average Bathroom?

Bathroom Remodel If you have an average-sized bathroom in your home that is outdated, has plumbing issues, or just isn’t meeting your functional or aesthetic needs, you might consider remodeling it. However, before you get started, the first question on your mind is undoubtedly what the price tag of such an endeavor will be. So, how much does it cost to remodel an average bathroom? Well, the answer to that question is hard to answer because there are so many different factors that go into determining the cost. To try and narrow down how much your bathroom remodel will cost you, ask the following questions:

What Parts of Your Bathroom Do You Want to Remodel?

The biggest factor to give thought to when it comes to determining the cost of a bathroom remodel is deciding what parts of your bathroom you want to remodel. If you’re considering remodeling everything in your bathroom, such as the tub, sink, toilet, cabinets, floor, mirror, etc., you’ll definitely be looking at a price on the higher side since every additional upgrade will increase the cost. However, one cost-effective option to consider is just replacing the wet area of your bathroom, such as the bathtub or shower. While this type of remodel won’t completely revamp the space, it can give your bathroom a brand-new feeling while minimizing the cost as well as the amount of time your bathroom will be under construction.

What Type of Materials Will You Choose?

Another major factor to consider is what type of materials you select for different aspects of your remodel. For instance, marble countertops can cost up to $250 per square foot, while laminate countertops can be as low as $15 per square foot. The quality of the items you select will correlate with the price for every aspect of your remodel, so you’ll have to make choices based on your preferences and budget.

Should You Hire a Contractor or Install It Yourself?

Once you have decided which parts of your bathroom you want to remodel and selected the materials that you’re going to use, the next step is to decide how you’re going to have these items installed. If cost is a major concern of yours, you may think you’ll be able to save some money by performing all of the work yourself. Surprisingly, this is almost never the case. That’s because, unless you are a professional contractor, you probably don’t know what you’re doing, which could lead to costly mistakes, not to mention the fact that it will take you much longer to complete the job. And, even if you do install everything right, it probably won’t look as nice as it could, negating the entire purpose of the remodel in the first place. On the other hand, when you hire reputable contractors for your bathroom remodel, you can expect that everything will be installed perfectly, operate flawlessly, and look beautiful. Plus, any contractor worth their salt will also offer some sort of guarantee, something that you can’t offer yourself.

Give Your Bathroom a Brand-New Feel at a Fraction of the Price by Remodeling Just the Bathing Area

If you’re looking to give your bathroom a makeover, but don’t want to break the bank for it, consider remodeling just the bathing area. A new tub or shower can not only enhance your bathing experience but also make your bathroom look and feel like new.

At Bath Expo, we’ve been helping homeowners throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth, San Antonio, and Central Texas areas get the bathroom of their dreams by installing new tubs and showers in their homes. Give us a call today and we’ll come out to your home for a free, no-obligation consultation to discuss our options with you in person.

How Much Does It Cost to Remodel a Small Bathroom?

Bathroom Remodel Small bathroom remodeling costs vary a great deal depending on a wide array of factors, but the average cost for this project typically hovers around $9,000. That is an average, however, which means the cost to remodel your small bathroom could range from a few hundred dollars to $15,000 or more.

Read on to learn more about the factors that will influence the cost of remodeling your small bathroom.

The Layout of Your Bathroom

Do you want to completely change the layout of your bathroom, or are you satisfied with the way it’s set up now? The answer to this question will greatly influence the cost of your small bathroom remodeling project. If you want to gut your bathroom and move the location of your shower, bathtub, sink, or toilet, this will significantly increase the cost of your remodel. The labor and plumbing work involved in rearranging the layout of your bathroom is the main reason why the cost is so much higher.

However, if you’re happy with the current layout of your bathroom and only want to replace the tub, shower, toilet, flooring, lighting, and sink, the cost of your remodel will decrease significantly. It’s possible that replacing your old fixtures with today’s new designs will provide you with the functionality you desire without having to change their location. Considering how much cheaper that would be, it’s definitely worth looking into.

Starting to Estimate Your Costs

One way to begin estimating the cost to remodel your small bathroom is to add up the materials you’ll need. Some small bathrooms only have a toilet and sink, while others are full bathrooms with a vanity, shower, and tub, so the cost of materials will depend on the type of small bathroom you have. Some of the materials you might need to include on your list are:

  • Bathtub—Most small bathrooms would have a standard tub but you might want to look into a soaker or walk-in bathtub.
  • Shower—The cost of a new shower depends on the materials used. For example, do you want a tile shower, acrylic, or natural stone?
  • Doors—Glass doors for your shower or tub would add significant costs compared to a shower curtain.
  • Shower/Bathtub Surrounds—In addition to your bathtub or shower base, you’ll also want the surrounding walls of your tub or shower to be beautiful and easy to maintain. Surrounds can be made from a variety of materials including acrylic, fiberglass, and tile.
  • Fixtures—Depending on what you choose, showerheads and bathtub faucets can add several hundred dollars to your bathroom remodeling project.
  • Sink—Some small bathrooms have a pedestal sink to save space, but others are able to fit full sinks and vanities.
  • Faucet—You’ll probably want your sink’s faucet to match the fixtures in your tub or shower.
  • Vanity—Installing a new vanity is a great way to add storage and counter space to your small bathroom.
  • Countertops—To go along with your new vanity, you might need new countertops which come in many different materials like granite, glass, ceramic, or travertine.
  • Cabinetry—If there’s room, you might be able to add extra cabinetry in your bathroom.
  • Flooring—There are several types of flooring that work well in a bathroom’s wet environment. These include porcelain or ceramic tile, vinyl flooring, natural stone, laminate, and engineered wood.
  • Lighting—It’s important that your bathroom is well-illuminated so select your bathroom lighting carefully. You’ll also want the finish of your lighting fixture (chrome, nickel, bronze, brass, etc.) to blend well with your other bathroom fixtures.
  • Miscellaneous—Mirrors, towel bars, grab bars, seating, molding, and wainscoting are some of many finishing touches you might want for your newly remodeled bathroom.

Minimizing Costs and Maximizing Impact

If you’d like to renovate your small bathroom without breaking the bank, consider remodeling just the bathing area. A brand new bathtub, shower, or tub-shower combo will give your small bathroom a completely new look while turning your bathroom into a spa-like oasis you’ll thoroughly enjoy using.

How Much Does It Cost to Replace a Tub?

New Bathtub The cost to replace a tub in the Dallas-Fort Worth area can range anywhere from about $500 to $20,000. There’s obviously a wide gap between those numbers so you’ll need to gather more specific information to get a closer estimate on how much your bathtub replacement will cost.

What Factors Can Affect the Cost of My Bathtub Replacement?

While replacing a tub might sound like a fairly straightforward home improvement project, it’s much more involved than what meets the eye. Here are some of the issues you’ll want to consider when calculating how much your tub replacement might cost:

  • What type of bathtub do you want?
  • What material do you want your new bathtub to be made from?
  • How much labor will it take to remove your existing tub?
  • Will you also need a new tub surround? If so, what type of tub surround do you want?
  • Do you need any special plumbing work to be completed during your tub remodel?
  • Do you have any damage in your bathroom that will need to be repaired before your new tub can be installed?
  • Will you want any particular fixtures or features to be installed with your tub?

Let’s take a closer look at a couple of these factors to help narrow down what your bathtub replacement will cost.

What Type of Bathtub Do You Want?

The first question to ask yourself is what type of new bathtub will meet your needs. You won’t want to pay for unnecessary features, nor will you want to invest in a tub that doesn’t have the functionality you’re hoping for. The main types of bathtubs on the market include:

  • Standard bathtubs—These basic bathtubs provide all the essentials without any frills.
  • Soaking bathtubs—These bathtubs are deeper than standard bathtubs so that you’re able to submerge your entire body when taking a bath.
  • Whirlpool and air jet tubs—These bathtubs have jets of water and/or air that massage your body while you soak. This creates a more spa-like experience and can be beneficial for those with sore muscles, arthritis, and other conditions.
  • Walk-in tubs—As the name suggests, walk-in tubs have a door so you can walk into the tub without climbing over a tub wall. Walk-in tubs offer a safer bathing experience than other tubs and can also provide the same therapeutic experience as a soaking tub or whirlpool tub.

What Material Do You Want Your New Bathtub to Be Made From?

Another consideration for bathtub replacement is the material your new tub is made from. Each material has its advantages, so it’s good to weigh those benefits against what your priorities are.

Some of the most popular tub materials include:

  • Acrylic—Acrylic bathtubs are relatively low in price and come with many benefits for homeowners. First, acrylic is a nonporous material so it’s easy to clean and resists mold and mildew. Acrylic also tends to stay warm which can keep your bath water more comfortable. Since acrylic can be custom-molded into any size or style of tub, you can get acrylic tubs in standard, soaking, whirlpool, and walk-in varieties. This material also can be manufactured into many different colors, designs, and finishes.
  • Fiberglass—Fiberglass tubs are affordable, lightweight, and come in a range of colors. On the flip side, fiberglass scratches and stains more easily than other bathtub materials. It also does not retain heat well so it’s not recommended for those who want to use their tub for long soaks.
  • Cast Iron—Although enameled cast iron tubs are at a relatively high price point, they’re durable and retain heat well which makes them a favorite for people who like to soak. These bathtubs are also heavy so you might need to reinforce your floor before having a cast iron tub installed.
  • Cultured Marble—While a more expensive option, cultured marble bathtubs are beautiful and luxurious. Since cultured marble is nonporous, it’s easy to clean but it does scratch so you have to be careful not to use any abrasive cleansers.

Just keep in mind that not every style of tub comes in every material, so if you have your heart set on one particular material, it could limit the style of bathtub you install at your home.

How Long Does It Take to Replace a Bathtub?

Bathtub If you’re like many people, the bathroom is the one room in your house that’s hardest to do without for an extended period of time. Even if you have a second bathroom, sharing it with other family members can be truly inconvenient, especially if you have multiple people heading out the door for work or school at the same time. The idea of forgoing the use of a bathroom for weeks or even months to accommodate a bathtub replacement is one of the biggest reasons that homeowners put off replacing their aging bathtub or upgrading to a tub or shower that better meets their needs.

However, replacing your bathtub may not take as much time as you think. In fact, there are high-quality tub replacements on the market today that, in many cases, can be installed in a day or two.

Benefits of a Tub Replacement

If you don’t want to deal with the hassle and high expense of a full-scale remodel, replacing your bathtub with a stylish, low-maintenance model can go a long way toward transforming the way you feel about your bathroom. There are high-quality options on the market today that can be custom manufactured to fit in the footprint of your existing tub, thus dramatically reducing the demolition needed to accommodate your new tub, shower, or tub-and-shower combo. This means, whether you want a safer or more luxurious bathing experience, or even a combination of both, you can get a bathroom upgrade in a matter of days that will provide lasting value for decades into the future.

Types of Bathroom Upgrades that Can Be Quickly Installed

Walk-In Tub or Shower

Does someone in your home struggle to get in and out of the tub because of limited mobility? A walk-in tub or no-threshold shower can be the ideal way to eliminate the challenges and hazards of climbing over the high edge of a standard bathtub, thus allowing aging loved ones to enjoy a relaxing bathing experience while also maintaining their independence. What’s more, you can have grab bars and other accessories installed for enhanced safety.

Luxury Tub Replacement

You can replace your outdated tub with a soaking tub that’s extra-deep to allow for full immersion and a truly relaxing bath, or even a Jacuzzi® tub that’s equipped with hydrotherapeutic jets for the ultimate bathing experience.

Tub-to-Shower Conversion

If your busy lifestyle means you rarely use your bathtub, you might wish to replace it with a gorgeous shower that’s outfitted with simulated stone or tile walls that include built-in shelving and seating.

The Importance of a Top-Notch Installation

Although advances in tub construction and materials have made it possible to enjoy bathroom upgrades in a matter of days instead of weeks, that doesn’t mean you’ll want the company you hire to cut corners on installation. It’s important to choose installers you can trust to remove your existing tub down to the studs, checking for hidden damage and performing needed repairs before installing your bath or shower replacement. You’ll also want to make sure that your installation company uses only highly trained professionals who will strictly adhere to the tub manufacturer’s installation guidelines. This way, you’ll be able to rest assured that your new tub or shower will look beautiful and perform as advertised for many years to come.

If you’re planning to upgrade the bathroom of a home in the San Antonio, Austin, or Dallas-Fort Worth areas of Texas, you won’t find a better partner than Bath Expo. What is the Best Bathtub to Buy?

Bathtub Is it time to replace a bathtub in your home? If you’re like many homeowners, you’ve probably been using the tub that was in your bathroom when you bought your house, and there’s a good chance it doesn’t really suit your preferences. A tub replacement is a terrific opportunity for you to buy the best bathtub that meets your needs and fits your budget. But the best bathtub for some homeowners may not be the best one for you. For example, are you looking to replace a standard tub in your guest bathroom with a new one of the same style and construction material? Would you prefer a more luxurious bathing experience for your master bathroom, with a deep tub that allows for full immersion? Or perhaps someone in your home is having difficulty getting in and out of your standard tub due to mobility issues – in that case, a walk-in tub may be the ideal investment for you.

Types of Bathtubs to Consider

One of the first decisions you’ll need to make is what type of bathtub you want. Here are some of the options:

Standard Tub

This is the most common type of bathtub, and it’s likely to be your most affordable option. Most models are about 5 feet long and more than 2 feet deep. If luxurious bathing isn’t a priority for you, this type of bathtub may be the best one to buy.

Soaking Tub

This type of tub has become quite popular in recent years. Unlike a standard tub, it’s deep enough to allow you to fully immerse yourself in warm water, thus enjoying a long, relaxing experience while you bathe.

Spa-Like Tub

A whirlpool or air-jet tub is equipped with strategically placed jets that shoot out water or air, providing a massage-like experience that can provide the ultimate in relaxation as well as soothe aching muscles and joints.

Walk-In Tub

If you’d like to provide a safer bathing experience for an aging loved one, you’ll definitely want to consider buying a walk-in tub. The primary allure of this type of tub is the watertight door that allows a bather to enter and exit without climbing over the high edge of a standard tub. Your new walk-in tub may also come with additional safety features, including grab bars, an easy-to-use shower wand, and a heated seat.

Of course, there are variations on all of these types of bathtubs. For example, standard tubs are the most common models to find in a tub-and-shower combination, but in some cases, you may be able to have a shower combined with a whirlpool tub. What’s more, you can have a soaking or walk-in tub that comes with hydrotherapeutic jets.

What’s the Best Tub Construction Material?

This is another question that has no set answer. Although fiberglass tubs are among the least expensive options, some people prefer the durability and low-maintenance aspects of acrylic. This material resists cracking and staining, and it can be treated with antimicrobial technology so that it wards off bacteria and mildew, thus reducing the need to use harsh chemicals to keep your tub clean.

No matter what type of bathtub is best for your home, you’ll want to make sure it’s installed by highly trained professionals that you can count on to adhere to the manufacturer’s installation guidelines.

If you live in the Austin, San Antonio, or Dallas-Fort Worth areas of Texas, the experts at Bath Expo will be happy to discuss your upcoming bathtub replacement project and help you choose the best tub to meet your needs. Contact us today to get started.

Small Bathroom Remodel

Small Bathroom Remodel If you’re looking to remodel a small bathroom in your home, you may be thinking that it will be much cheaper and quicker than remodeling a large bathroom. Unfortunately, that’s not always the case. Although it may seem like an easier project because of its size, it still has the same elements as a larger bathroom. However, with some careful planning, you can save some money while remodeling your small bathroom and still have it look great. It’s all up to you and how you want to approach your project. Here are some things to consider when remodeling your small bathroom.

What Do You Want to Change?

You don’t always need to do a full remodel to make your bathroom look amazing. Yes, it can be nice to remodel everything in your bathroom from the floors, to light fixtures, to your toilet, sink and bathing area. But, every time you want to change something, the price will continue to go up. You’ll need to take a look at your budget and see what makes sense for you financially. For example, by just remodeling the wet area of your bathroom, you can give your bathroom a whole new look while not breaking the bank.

Will You Hire A Pro or Do it Yourself?

If finances are a major concern of yours, you may be tempted to go the DIY route. Surprisingly, that’s not always the cheaper way to go. Unless you’re a professional with a lot of available time or handy friends, it could actually end up costing more money due to the time it takes and the mistakes that are likely to occur. Plus, it probably won’t look as nice as a professionally installed bathroom, negating the entire point of the remodel in the first place. Hiring a professional is always a smart idea because you will be leaving your project in the hands of someone who is experienced and will get the job done right. It may not always save you money, but it definitely can provide you with peace of mind.

General Tips for Remodeling a Small Bathroom

Because there is not that much space to work with when remodeling a small bathroom, you’ll need to think carefully about what to do to maximize the space that you have. Here are some tips to consider when remodeling a small bathroom:

  • Add as much storage space as you can – Having a lot of storage space will allow you to neatly store your items, eliminating clutter and making your bathroom appear larger.
  • Ensure everything serves a purpose – When remodeling a small bathroom, it’s a good idea to make sure everything in it serves a purpose. Decorative items can take up too much room and make your bathroom feel even smaller than it is.
  • Use neutral colors – It’s a good idea to use neutral colors for everything in your bathroom because they can create a more open feel while also providing a calm and aesthetically pleasing look.

If you’re ready to remodel the small bathroom in your home, you should consider working with the professionals at Bath Expo. They have been around since 2006, and in that time have earned a stellar reputation for their bathroom remodeling services. What’s more, they will come to your home for a free, no-obligation consultation where they will listen to your needs and help you come up with a design to meet them. What is a Shower Pan?

Shower Pan A shower pan is a waterproof barrier that makes up the floor of a shower. Its purpose is to direct water from the shower into the drain. Shower pans are usually constructed from a durable material like acrylic so that they will hold up over time. Some shower pans are designed in a way that allows for tile to be placed over them, allowing for more design options. In addition to the barrier itself, the shower pan also consists of a drain assembly to ensure that the water goes directly down the drain, as well as a strainer to prevent any large objects from falling down the drain and causing a clog.
